If a course you desire is not currently published on our calendar, we will contact you to set it up. Rescheduling a course is not a problem. We simply ask that reschedules are communicated with a minimum of 7 days advance notice.

Scuba Diving Instruction Refund Information

Refunds for Scuba Diving courses must be requested no later than 14 days prior to the start of training and must be made in writing to billing@compassdiveandsail.com. There are no refunds for Scuba Diving courses when a request is made less than 14 days prior to the start of classroom instruction, pool instruction or open water instruction. Refunds on Scuba Diving courses are dependent on whether the student materials have been redeemed. Upon receiving a request for cancellation of a course with Digital Learning that has been redeemed by the customer, a partial refund equivalent to only the instructional element will be made. If Digital Learning has not been redeemed, a full refund minus a restocking/administrative fee of $50 will be made. Processing refunds may take 5-10 business days once the request is received.

Safety Instruction Refund Information

Refunds must be requested no later than 14 days prior to the start of training with an instructor and must be made in writing to billing@compassdiveandsail.com. Refunds are dependent on whether the student materials, eLearning or traditional book/DVD, have been redeemed, opened or used. Upon receiving a request for cancellation of a course involving an eLearning component and when the course has been accessed by the customer, a refund equivalent to only the instructional element will be provided. If an eLearning has not been accessed, a full refund minus a restocking/administrative fee of $50 will be made. If a refund is requested for a course involving traditional book/DVD materials and the materials are returned in good condition for use by another customer, a full refund minus a restocking/administrative fee of $50 will be made. If traditional course materials are provided and a refund is requested, it is the sole responsibility of the student to return the materials in good condition to Compass Dive and Sail. Compass Dive and Sail is not responsible for shipping, insurance, automotive or other expenses related to the return. Only upon inspection and acceptance by an employee of Compass Dive and Sail of the materials originally distributed, will a refund be processed. Processing refunds may take 5-10 business days once the request is received or materials are returned.

Dive Trip Descriptions, Payment Terms & Conditions and Refund Information

Dive Trips offered by Compass Dive and Sail are posted on our web site and contain the trip information. This is the only credible location to find the details of trips offered by Compass Dive and Sail. Compass Dive and Sail may, at its discretion provide a trip flyer that can be downloaded or sent automatically upon purchase of a trip. The web site trip description or the provided flyer are the only source for the offering of any trip and provides the details including the destination, included and excluded elements or optional services for that particular trip or destination. Dive Trips require a deposit to hold your reservation(s). The deposit amount is calculated based on the overall price of a trip and published in the trip description. A trip deposit is due for each space you intend to purchase. Compass Dive and Sail will accept payment in full for a purchased dive trip if you desire. However, we also setup payment plans for our customers as part of checkout. Our trips are reserved a minimum of six (6) months in advance of the travel start date. We therefore have implemented a set of payment terms that break trip payments into either (a) full payment at the time of sign-up or (b) trip deposit followed by (c) equal monthly payments. The number of payments will depend on the date of purchase by the customer and the remaining time between purchase and departure. Compass Dive and Sail will not setup a customer payment plan for the purchase of a dive trip scheduled to depart 60 days or less from date of purchase. Payment schedule is listed in the trip description for a specific trip. All payments must be made in full no later than 60 days prior to trip departure. When a customer is no longer able to participate in a trip they have purchased, a refund may be requested. Purchased trips will not be refunded less than 90 days prior to trip departure. However, if Compass Dive and Sail is able to resell the spot being vacated, a refund less deposit may be provided. All requests for refunds must be made in writing to billing@compassdiveandsail.com.

Diving Insurance and Dive Trip Travel Insurance

Compass Dive and Sail requires all customers purchasing dive travel trips, excluding Camp and Dive Weekends, to purchase diving insurance. Many dive resorts and live-aboard dive operators require dive insurance in order to participate. This is especially important for trips taken abroad. Compass Dive and Sail highly recommends that divers purchase diving insurance. This is a level of protection each diver should have regardless of destination. Compass Dive and Sail does not provide refunds on dive travel trips resulting in total or partial trip loss, delays or shortened travel due to medical emergencies or other medical issues experienced by a diver or non-diver on a Compass Dive and Sail sponsored trip. Compass Dive and Sail is not responsible for nor does the company provide refunds on dive travel trips resulting in total or partial trip loss, delays or shortened travel, loss of diving, either in whole or part, due to weather or delays or cancelations from third party providers, e.g. airlines, cabs, trains, etc. Compass Dive and Sail highly recommends purchasing trip insurance to cover the cost of your entire trip. There are multiple companies that offer travel and dive insurance. Compass Dive and Sail can supply you with one or both of these via our affiliation with Divers Alert Network (DAN). Please refer to our web site, under Insurance for additional details. There you will find information on purchasing membership in DAN, which provides various levels of diver medical insurance as well as the purchase of trip insurance, for both individual trips or annual policies. This is an especially good option for people who travel two (2) or more times annually for dive or any other vacation travel.
